Password Protect PDF FAQs
Is this really AES-256?
Yes. PDFForge uses pdf-lib-encrypt with AES-256. We do not claim AES-256 for other algorithms.
Where is the password stored?
Only in memory for this operation. It is not written to logs, IndexedDB, or the service worker cache.
Can I set owner and user passwords separately?
This tool applies the open password you enter. Distinct permission passwords are not offered.
